New Bedford Eats helps you narrow down the list of places to try by bringing you new menu items, food events, and specials popping up all over the area.
This week you can get a grab-and-go stromboli, dig into Sunday Family Take Out meals, or cure your case of the Mondays. If donuts are your thing, you may want to celebrate with the Donut Factory.

Birthday Bash
It’s been a year since The Donut Factory opened up shop in Dartmouth and they are celebrating in a big way. Head over to 246 State Road, North Dartmouth from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, April 13 to join in on the fun. Dig into free samples of the new spring menu, take part in the giveaways, and enjoy the $1 specials. You won’t want to miss the Dubai Chocolate Milkshake debuting this weekend.
A taste of the South
Kyler’s Catch Seafood Market and Kitchen is bringing you a southern-inspired comfort food all April long. This month’s special in the kitchen is Southern Style Shrimp’n Grits. For $ 14 you will get to indulge in five perfectly fried shrimp, drizzled with creamy grits, with house-made gravy, and served with fried cornbread. This treat is worth the drive to 2 Washburn St., New Bedford.
Dining for a cause
What’s better than eating a delicious meal you don’t have to cook? Giving back to the community while doing so. During the month of April if you dine in or take out on Wednesdays from Joes Original Kitchen + Bar mention Dartmouth Natural Resources Trust – DNRT when placing your order. Then not only will you have a satisfying dinner but 15% of your check with be donated to DNRT. Wednesdays are for eating at 318 Chase Road, Dartmouth.
Elevate your breakfast
Two popular breakfast items are now available on the menu every day at Tia Maria’s European Cafe. After hearing the request from their customers, you can now order the Mozambique Benny and the Wake Up Tacos whenever the craving hits. Taste test the Mozambique Benny with its two poached eggs, linguica patty, and mozambique sauce served on a toasted bolo levedo served with home fries ($15); or the Wake Up Tacos you get three soft tortillas loaded with scrambled eggs, home fries, bacon, mozzarella, and avocado served with a side of sour cream ($13).
Ice cream season is here
Lickety Splits Ice Cream is officially open for the season. Make the trip to 719 State Road, Westport 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday. They are serving up over 24 flavors of soft-serve ice cream, hard ice cream, burgers, chili, clam cakes, and their famous Coney Island Hot Dog.
Kids’ make-your-own pizza
During April Vacation make sure to visit Ma Raffa’s New Bedford for a special treat. They are hosting their Make Your Own Pizza for kids 12 and under from Monday, April 21 through Friday, April 25 (closed Tuesday). To make your own pizza complete with a special dessert is $10.99 for a cheese pizza and $12.99 for up to two toppings. Don’t miss out on a fun night at 85 Rockdale Ave., New Bedford.
