Red Lobster may have discontinued its famous endless shrimp promotion, but it’s bringing back another menu favorite: hush puppies.

Hush puppies in, endless shrimp out as Red Lobster looks to grow
Part of a revamped selection to attract more customers, the new menu comes with nine newly-added items, including lobster bisque to bacon-wrapped sea scallops. Red Lobster CEO Damola Adamolekun previously remarked how the endless shrimp deal caused “chaos” in the restaurants and cost the company $11 million.
While he once teased a possible “endless shrimp” comeback, Adamolekun told TODAY that he decided to remove the unlimited shrimp promotion “because I know how to do math.”
Now that the seafood chain has exited bankruptcy, it plans to “be done closing restaurants and intend[s] to grow from here,” Adamolekun told CNN last month. In comes the resurgence of the beloved hush puppies, which he expects will satisfy those awaiting the menu item’s return.
“There was a social media riot over us taking off the hush puppies a few years ago. So that is coming back,” Adamolekun told TODAY. “I expect a stampede into our restaurants because we’re bringing back the hush puppies.”
Red Lobster adds 9 new items to revamped menu
In addition to the hush puppies making a comeback, customers will see nine new items added to the menu.
Adamolekun gave a sneak peek at some of the items, which include bacon-wrapped sea scallops, lobster bisque, lobster pappardelle pasta, grilled mahi, and Parmesan-crusted chicken.
