BILOXI, Miss. (WKRG) — Mississippi Department of Marine Resources officials have announced that shrimping in all waters north of the Intercoastal Waterway will close on Jan. 1 at 12:01 a.m.

MDMR officials said that all other Mississippi territorial waters where shrimping is legal will remain open. Specifically, an MDMR release said that areas south of the Intracoastal Waterway and west of the Gulfport Shrimp Channel will close at 12:01 a.m. on May 1, 2025.
The closures come after shrimp season opened in state territorial waters on May 29, 2024.
